Advice Centre

We operate an Advice centre. We have an open door policy for quick enquiries with dedicated drop in sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays. We aim to give access to those seeking information, guidance and advice an opportunity to speak to someone. Our trained advisers do a quick triage and take actions according to individual matters to hand and the urgency. We are a unique centre in the city operating such model as we aim to tackle the lack of access to asylum and immigration advice. The centre is located on 13 Beaumont Road, Plymouth, PL4 9BA. People can also reach us via telephone where we give appropriate guidance.

Southwest Immigration Alliance and Justice Together Initiative (JTI)

The Southwest Immigration Alliance is a project funded by the Justice Together Initiative (JTI) to enhance access to immigration advice in the Southwest of England.

The Southwest faces a shortage of legal advice, particularly in immigration. A report by Bristol Refugee Rights and Bristol Law Centre, funded by JTI, highlighted the region’s lack of adequate specialist immigration advice due to limited capacity amid high demand.

This project aims to create a more coordinated, collaborative, and sustainable legal advice network, ensuring fair and equal access to justice for those navigating the immigration system, allowing them to live independently. The project intends to bridge the gap in legal access in the Southwest and strengthen collaboration among legal providers through two distinct delivery areas by sub-region:

  1. In the ‘North’ sub-region, covering Bristol, Gloucester, and Swindon: Improving referral pathways and adding complex casework capacity at BLC.
  2. In Devon and Cornwall, covering Plymouth and Exeter: Building capacity to develop a sustainable ecosystem, fostering relationships, and other development efforts.

Partner Organizations Involved in the Project:

Bristol Law Centre, Bristol Refugee Rights, Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, The Harbour Project, Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support, Refugee Support Devon, Plymouth Hope, and The University of Plymouth Law Clinic.
